It is now dear longtime friend Ashok Thiruvengadam’s turn to send me on a trip to self-inquiry.
When one heads a software company for a profession, there are weekends that need something to do with. You could either do ENDURANCE BICYCLING (250kms on the lower end), ULTRA RUNNING (50kms on the lower end), run a few marathons or halves annually, or do an occasional 24 hour run (122km?). For the once in a lifetime opportunity you could pickup a Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP – 2400Kms bicycling) or (twice?) the upcoming London-Edinburgh-London 2017 (LEL – 1200Kms bicycling).
When you do all this, you better be sure your Free Time is worth every second. Why else would Ashok break into limericks to muse over holes on the road or in ATMs, the politics of pub closures and GSTs, the irony of the ‘sitting running judge’ or his ‘date with Aadhaar’, and the cosmic love during his all-nighter runs/rides.
His latest, WOMB TO TOMB could not escape my sharing instinct.
Happy Heading, Running, Bicycling and Limericking!
